Frequently Asked Questions:
- What is the Next Generation Jam?
- The Next Generation Jam is a straight up, no BS competition for bboys, bgirls and now poppers of all styles.
- The winners of the Next Gen division will enter the Open battles on the same day
- When a crew has won the Next Gen division, they can choose to enter either Next Gen or Open battles at the next Next Generation Jam
- When a crew has won the Next Gen division twice, they graduate to Open battles and can no longer enter the Next Gen battles
- What's the format of the battles?
- Popping battles are 2 vs 2, Bboy/Bgirl battles are 3 vs 3
- There will be 2 sections: a Next Gen division and an Open division
- Dancers get 2 rounds each per battle
- Who can enter Next Generation Jam?
- ANYONE can enter whether or not you've been dancing for 1 month or 10 years, if you're self-trained or have been taking classes, whether you're a D2MG member or not, boy or girl, really young or really old, are popular or are a loner, it doesn't matter
- Who can enter the Next Gen battles, and who enters the Open battles?
- Next Gen battles are for any dancers who haven't entered a major competition before which includes Australian Bboy Championships and Shadow Wars for bboys/bgirls, and SuperRoundBox for poppers.
- Open battles are for the more experienced/professional dancers and for people who have won the Next Gen battles at least twice before
- How do I register to battle?
Just show up on the day at the time specified for registrations with your crew name - if you do not have a crew name we will allocate you a name based on where the majority of you live, followed by "BALLZ" for example "Parra Ballz"
- What if I don't have anyone to enter with or one of our team members bails on us on the day?
- Just put your name down as an entrant and if there are other singles we will match you up - it's a great way to meet people
- Can
we enter the Next Gen battles with just one experienced dancer and the
others are less experienced, say if I enter with my students?
- Nope sorry, all crew members have to be Next Gen, or people will complain. And dancers complain a lot.
- Why is it that only the Bboy competition has cash prizes?
- Because we are lucky enough to have a mystery sponsor for the Bboy competition specifically. If you know of anyone who is happy to sponsor the Popping competition or even the Bboy competition too, let us know.
