CarriageWorks’ PLATFORM 3 HIP HOP FESTIVAL returns in March 2010 with a 2-day celebration of everything hip hop. Now in its third year, PLATFORM 3 HIP HOP FESTIVAL is established as an all-encompassing showcase of the 5 elements of hip hop culture. DJs, MCs, beat boxers, breakers and graffiti artists from all over the country converge at CarriageWorks and turn the venue into a creative platform for the best emerging and established hip hop artists.
PLATFORM 3 HIP HOP FESTIVAL will celebrate the best in Australian hip hop music, dance, art, film and hip hop theatre. The 2-day event will be haven for all the hip hop heads out there; the perfect place for enthusiasts to discover hot local talent, and a unique, fun and family-friendly opportunity for the hip hop novice to get involved and find out what it’s all about.
THE FESTIVAL

FRIDAY 19 MARCH | DOORS OPEN AT 7PM | TICKET INCLUDES:
• The Opening Night Party with DJs in the foyer

• Flexing Skillz - improvised freestyle jam for the best artists around
SATURDAY 20 MARCH | DAYTIME FROM 2PM | FREE ENTRY INCLUDES:
• Graffiti and Tagging demos and comps, including pro writers creating pieces live
• Hip Hop film exhibition & artist talk
• Chalk it Up – chalking activities for kids and adults. Everyone can have a go.
• Kids Breaking Battle
• Next Generation - Up & Comers Dance Battle, including popping, locking and breaking
• Next Generation - Up & Comers MC Battle
• Freestyle MC and Beatbox Battles and demonstrations
• Freak the Technique – breaking battle heats

THE LEAD-UP
FREE DANCE CLASSES
Ever wanted to dance like they do in filmclips? Always wished you do a headspin? Haven’t tried popping since the 80’s? This year, PLATFORM 3 HIP HOP FESTIVAL will bring hip hop dance to the masses with free classes in the 3 weeks leading up to the Festival. The classes are for everyone, kids and adults and it doesn’t matter whether you are a beginner or super-coordinated – it’s just about giving hip hop dance a go! Rock up to the CarriageWorks foyer and soak up the street style attitude with free lessons in hip hop grooves.

GRAFFITI AND STREET ART TOUR
A free tour for street art and culture appreciators around the Inner West. The tour will be an introduction to different forms of street art – graffiti, stencils, paste-ups - and will visit some of Sydney’s most iconic street art sites, including the Skipping Girls along Wilson St Eveleigh and the May’s Lane Project in St Peters. The tour will be led by a renowned professional graffiti artist. Tour route to be announced.
